A keen contest is on the cards in the 2017 assembly poll to Alapur. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls BJP’s Sant Kabir Nagar Lok Sabha candidate Sharad Tripathy had secured a massive lead of 22287 votes over his nearest BSP rival Kushal Tiwari in the Alapur assembly constituency. SP nominee Bhal Chnadra Yadav was relegatyed to the third place in this assembly segment.
